February 05, 2006

Generation No. 1

1. THOMAS1 BLAYLOCK was born 1759 in North Carolina. He married ANNE HAWKINS. She was born 1763 in Virginia.

Child of THOMAS BLAYLOCK and ANNE HAWKINS is:

2. i. ROBERT ANDERSON2 BLAYLOCK, b. 1805, Person County, North Carolina.

Generation No. 2

2. ROBERT ANDERSON2 BLAYLOCK (THOMAS1) was born 1805 in Person County, North Carolina. He married PHEBA RIMMER August 08, 1821 in Person County, NC. She was born 1800 in North Carolina1.

Notes for ROBERT ANDERSON BLAYLOCK:

Richard Anderson Blaylock is found on page 7 of the 1860 Tishomingo County, Mississippi Census. He is a 55 years old (b.ca. 1805) farmer. His wife Pheba is 60 years old (b.ca. 1800) in this record. In this record both Richard and Phebe list North Carolina as their place of birth. Two other people are enumerated in this household. James Blaylock is listed as a 18 year old male (b.ca. 1842) born in South Carolina. Orilla Rimmer is a 21 year old (b.ca.1839) female born in South Carolina. At this time I assume that James is a son of Robert Anderson and Pheba. Orilla is somehow related to Pheba. Living next door to Anderson Blaylock is son Fielden Blaylock. In the 1860 Census, Fielden is a 34 year old (b.ca. 1822) farmer. His wife is 23 year old (b.ca. 1837) Malinda. South Carolina is the birth place of both Malinda and Fielden. Two children are enumerated in the household. Phebe is a seven year old (b.ca. 1853) daughter and Sarah is a 1 year old (b.ca. 1859) daughter. Both Sarah and Phebe are listed as being born in Mississippi. (1860 Tishomingo County Mississippi Census, Carrolsville Post Office, Page 7, Ancestry.com Image 9). (Green 1/13/2003)

How long they lived there before and after 1860 is not known at this time. There place of burial is not known at this time. It is known that two of their children did move to Monroe County and my Blaylock links revolve around them.

Of interest is a second Blaylock line developed in the Monroe County area and had an impact on the Pickles and allied families. This line descends from David Blaylock. David was born in 1752. There are records of him living in Brunswick County, Virginia, Chatina County, North Carolina, Lincoln County, Tennessee. One of his children was Mary Rebecca Blaylock, who married Hiram Webb. Hiram and Rebecca has two daughters named Letta and Narcissa Jane Webb. Letta, born 1831, married Tillman Irvin and Narcissa, born December 25, 1835, married Anthony Irvin.

Notes for JOHN HASTENS BLAYLOCK:

Information for this family came from the memory of Myrtice Ray and from the research of Rayburn Blaylock. I have a ever lasting memory of John Hastens Blaylock and wife Malinda in the form of a tattered and faded picture in the bedroom/sitting room of Myrtice and Wes Rays home.

John Hastens Blaylock served in company L of the 24th Mississippi Infantry Regiment during the Civil War with his own brother Willis Calvin Blaylock and his future son-in-law Jacob Pickle.

Notes for LONNIE PEARCE:

In A.A. Pearce, by Doris Franks The Heritage of Lamar County, Alabama, page 487, Lonnie's date of death was given as 1926. I think this is a common mistake. His father's date of death was given earlier in the text as 1926. Probably with the similarities of the names the 1926 date of death was given to both of these men. Search of the Social Security Death Index has not led to the correct date of death for Lonnie Pearce.

He married (2) OLIVIA GRIFFIN MCNEAR41 December 29, 1901 in Sebastin County, Arkansas42. She died 1952.

Notes for JOSIAH S. BLAYLOCK:

In the 1870 Census of Sanford County, Alabama (present day Lamar), he is listed as an 11 year old son and his place of birth is given as Alabama( 1870 Sanford County, Alabama Census, T13 R16, Moscow PO, HH 17, p.368A). This would place his date of birth as 1859.

Josiah is also listed as Joseph I. Blaylock by some researchers. Josiah and Yancy had ten children. However, I know nothing of their names.

Mariah Camp, daughter of V.O. Camp is often listed as a second wife of Josiah Blaylock. This marriage was to have occurred between Yancy and Olivia. There is no hard evidence to prove this marriage. However, the evidence of Josiah's marriage of Yancy Turman and Olivia McNear more or less eliminates the chance of a marriage to Mariah. This information was provided by Billie Webb in October of 2001 (Green - 12/26/2001).

Notes for JOHN EARNEST MUNN:

Linda McMullin lists John Munn's middle name as Earnest instead of Carter (E-mail Linda McMullin 3/20/2001). I have not located my original source for comparison. (Green 3/15/2002). A John Earnest Muss is buried in the Blaock Cemetery and "wife of J.E. Munn" is inscribed on the tombstone of Leona J. Blaylock (Inventory of Blaylock Cemetery - Rayburn Blaylock). For this reason, I am going to change the middle name in my record to reflect the aforementioned evidence. (Green 1/23/05).
